Always There
As I slept in my comfy, warm bed, I was awakened to a roar of cries. I got up quickly and ran to my mother, who was also crying. I asked her.
“Mom what happened, what’s going on? Why is everyone crying?”
She replied.
“It would be better if you didn’t know what has happened.”
I didn’t want to argue with her, I just wanted to know why everyone was crying so I decided to go and ask my father. So, I ran to my father, who was sitting in the corner of the room, staring at the floor with the look of dismay on his face and tear drops running down his face as if rain drops falling from his eyes. I asked my father.
“Dad, please tell me what has happened? What’s going on and why is mom crying and why are you crying?’
As he looked up and gently wiped his tears he replied.
“Son, your grandmother passed away.”
I didn’t want to believe him. I ran to my grandmother's room and saw my dads brothers and their families just sitting there crying. But who knew that such a beautiful day can bring such suffering to ones family. That was the day my grandmother passed away. Such a beautiful day was the worst day of my life. My life was completely shattered. My grandmother and I were very close. She would do anything possible just to make me happy. And she did she made me very happy. But happiness doesn’t last.
The last time I had seen my grandmother was eleven years ago. That was when my family and I had moved to Chicago. My family was planning on going back to Karachi, Pakistan for my brothers wedding over the summer. I was so excited for three reasons. So I was really exicited to be finally going back.

The next day we started shopping for my bothers wedding. We all bought tons of clothes, and other materials required for a wedding such as shoes, jewelry, and etc…. My mom and my dad were out booking halls for the wedding. So, well all decided to go site seeing. My cousins took us places that I had seen when I was a boy. We had a great time there. After we got back my grandmother had made lunch for us. Also my parents had arrived. So we all had lunch together. That was the best lunch ever, because my whole family was there including my grandmother.
It was time for my brothers wedding. That night my grandmother got a little sick so she decided to stay home. I wanted to stay with her, but she didn’t want me to miss out on my brothers wedding. So well went to the wedding. The wedding turned out great but it wasn’t the same without my grandmother. So when we all got home she her condition had gotten worse. So my dad took her to the hospital. She stayed at he hospital for a couple days and came back. She looked much better. So we all talked about the wedding and how everything turned out. After that little talk, we all decided to let my grandmother rest. So we all went to our beds to sleep and she also went to sleep. But who knew that this sleep would be my grandmother final sleep.
The next morning I was awakened to a roar of cries and discovered that my grandmother had passed away. I didn’t know what to do. I just sat in my room and just stared at the ceiling. I later found out that she had passed away that morning in her sleep. Well that afternoon my family, my uncles, everyone, we went to the mortuary to say our final goodbyes. Then she was buried.
My grandmother was my best friend. Even though she passed away she will always live on in my heart. I will never forget one thing she said to me. She told me that she will always be here for me not matter what happened. But you what even though she is dead, she still is always there for me when I need her. Always looking out for me. Even though if someone you love goes away, they will always be there and will always live on in your heart.
