The Wild Children
Part 1
1. Alex’s family has mysteriously disappeared when he came down for breakfast one morning in Russia. Chairs were left upside down and meals weren’t cook. There was a strange sensation to it. This would never happen in Alex’s house since his mom was usually very tidy. I have a guess that his family was taken away by the GPUs since his father who is an educator did not allow kids to learn about communism and the government. Therefore, the government must have some how found out and did what they always do when someone talks about them. It is possible they survived but I predict that they probably were shot to death. It was a horrific beginning, but I figured this is a great way for the author to grab the reader’s attention.
2. Katriana Sergyava is a warm, kind person who means more than just a teacher to Alex. Although she probably isn’t the best-looking person in the world, she definitely can be the most loving and caring person ever to appear in this cold place - Russia. Alex had thought the same thing. “She had the kind of beauty that affected people’s hearts and fooled their eyes.” Not worrying about her own danger, Katriana tries her best to provide warmth and shelter to the lonely, lost, and heart-broken Alex. Her intelligent yet gentle words were probably the best thing that Alex could have gotten after being homeless. If I were left with nothing to eat and no one to love by, I wouldn’t have a second thought about going for her help first. Although this is fiction, I realize that there are many people such as Katriana in our modern society. People like your teachers and relatives are always there for you not matter what kind of problem you have.
3. I will begin this paragraph with a very general answer. Communist Society. This is the true problem. It made the Russian government do whatever nasty and cruel thing they wish in order to gain power. The more powerful they are, the more the citizens are afraid to fight and go against them. If they did, the government would do anything to make these people suffer, leaving the kids to be homeless. Peter lost his family when the GPU destroyed his family’s farm. Alex lost his family probably because his father’s objection to teaching kids about governments. Even if the kids did go to foster care, it doesn’t make any difference from living in a garbage can since the people living there can barely take care of one kid. This is why thousands and thousands of poor wild children are left to survive on their own. It is a crazy world and if I were the president at that time, I would kill myself for being such a disgrace to the human race.
4. A proper room requires at least good lighting with clear windows. Having to know that the room Alex is living in has only a tiny unclear window near the ceiling frightens me and makes me feel like I’m living in hell. The little cellar wouldn’t have enough space to put all my toys, computer, desk, and posters. It would be like living in a prison. The coldness and darkness would make even your sweetest dream to turn
